RESA Research – Staging Helps Homes Sell Faster

In February 2009 the Real Estate Staging Association (RESA) released a report comparing time on market for staged homes vs. unstaged homes for 2008. The key conclusion of the report is that staging a house significantly reduces the number of days to sell a house.

• Unstaged vacant homes, on average, sat on the market unsold for 190 days. After staging, these same homes sold in 28 days.
• Unstaged occupied homes, on average, sat unsold for 57 days. After staging, these same homes sold in 6 days.
• Vacant homes that were staged before listing sold in 33 days, on average.
• Occupied homes that were staged first sold in 24 days.

HomeGain Research – Staging Provides a Strong Return on Investment

HomeGain surveyed 2000 real estate agents nationwide to determine which improvements pay the biggest dividends when a home is sold. Of ten types of home improvements, staging was the third highest nationwide with a return on investment of 343%. In the Chicago area, staging ranked second with an ROI of 351%.
